This is a great post. Have you read “Orbiting the Giant Hairball”? @bvirute suggested it to me. It speaks a lot to the dynamic of how you create space to pursue new strategies when corporate gravity is pulling against you.
lol @bvirtue should get paid by the author for that one! he gave it to me a few months ago and i literally finished it in less than two hours. so good.
i have been learning a little about Cisco and up until know actually their leadership has been very intentional about fighting that gravity and focusing on new core activities. it was extremely difficult but their bottom line for a while grew significantly and often.

yes! the book i referenced in this post goes into detail and uses cisco as the case study for staying innovative even after massive growth. some of their decision making amazed me.
